This deliverable presents the results and analysis of the ninth NREN Satisfaction Survey carried out in March and April 2022, covering the GÉANT organisation, the GÉANT (GN4-3/GN4-3N) project, the GÉANT network and network operation, the GÉANT service portfolio, and GÉANT collaboration and community activities. The survey objectives were to assess satisfaction with GÉANT’s activities; assess the importance of and satisfaction with specific aspects, products and services; help GÉANT to better understand the community’s needs; and determine how and where to focus future efforts.

This document describes the results of the Network Services Evolution and Development Task. The implementation of Orchestration, Automation and Virtualisation (OAV) helps NRENs build agile network management systems to meet the growing user demands for flexible service delivery. To support the NRENs in this endeavour, the Network Services Evolution and Development task (Task 2) of the Network Technologies and Services Development Work Package (WP6) of the GÉANT project is focused on developing interoperable OAV solutions and enabling knowledge exchange. The Service Provider Architecture Platform (SPA) is a leading example of the usage and advantages of OAV, and the Network Automation eAcademy has been created to improve NREN's OAV knowledge and skills.

This document presents the second generation eduVPN client apps, which were released during Q4 2020. The new design of the client apps simplifies the user experience by hiding complexity. It puts identity discovery first and solves the service discovery issue users were previously confronted with. All apps now also have the same look-and-feel and the same flow.

The digital transformation process challenges the traditional approach to network services demanding agility and flexibility in all stages of service management. Using Orchestration, Automation and Virtualisation (OAV) as technology drivers, the activities undertaken by the Network Services Evolution and Development task (Task 2) of the Network Technologies and Services Development Work Package (WP6) of the GÉANT project are focusing on helping the community tackle service transformation in an interoperable way by proposing a high-level architectural blueprint. The work on the Service Provider Architecture platform showcases a solution that follows the proposed concepts and principles.

This deliverable reviews whether new types of white box devices can be used by the research and education community and for which use cases. The ability to program the data plane thanks to a high abstract level language (P4) opens the door to new applications for research and education. Two use cases are presented here: In-band Network Telemetry and Distributed Denial of Service attack mitigation. The Router for Academia, Research and Education project (RARE) investigates also if it is possible to use open source Network Operating System (NOS).
